About the Department
In an era of globalization, the Department of English at S.R.T. College, Dhamri, serves as a vital bridge connecting our rural students to the global stage. Unlike other language departments that focus on regional heritage, our primary objective is to equip students with a tool—the English language—that opens doors to higher education, technology, and international career opportunities. We move beyond traditional rote learning; instead, we explore literature as a reflection of human experience across borders. From the classics of Shakespeare and Milton to the resonant voices of Indian Writing in English, our curriculum is designed to foster critical thinking, modernize outlooks, and instill confidence in students who often come from non-English speaking backgrounds.

Vision:
To evolve into a center of excellence that democratizes English education, transforming it from a "language of the elite" to a "language of empowerment" for rural youth. We envision creating globally competent citizens who can articulate their thoughts with clarity, confidence, and creativity while remaining rooted in human values.

Mission:

Linguistic Proficiency: To bridge the rural-urban divide by enhancing the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills (LSRW) of students through language labs and interactive sessions.
Critical Thinking: To encourage students to question, analyze, and interpret texts, thereby developing an independent and analytical thought process.
Employability: To integrate soft skills and business communication into the curriculum, making students industry-ready for sectors like BPOs, teaching, content writing, and civil services.
Literary Sensitivity: To cultivate empathy and social awareness by exposing students to diverse narratives of struggle, triumph, and humanity found in world literature.
